The Barnominium

We affectionately call our home  "The Barnominium", because it is a metal building combo, Horse Barn, House, Garage/Party room, Shop/Storage.  When we purchased this property, it looked Awful!  My mom, literally thought I had lost my mind.  See, we lived in a Home that we had custom built and she just could not understand or see my vision for this place.

Wouldn't you want to live here?
First, we added onto the left side of the building, so we could add horse stalls down both sides of a hallway.

Added a parking pad, porch, shutters, gravel.
Purchased some Garage doors, and put in landscaping.

Then we added the rock siding.
More landscaping
Who would have thought, that it could look this good?  Judging a cow thru the mud.

Now on to the back of the barn...............................

Old Cow work pen!  The concrete was here and I had started painting.
Old fence gets taken down and moved to the other side of the white door.
New fence and a little landscape

Steeping stones & gravel between existing concrete and new fence.

We built the lattice divider to kinda close in the patio area and for some more greenery.
We added the lattice work to the back of the barn, to try to filter some of the heat that radiates off the tin. And we built a surround to go around the A/C unit.

This little tent from Walmart, didn't last long, the wind got it.
A Chaste tree, it is a fast grower and the blooms are fabulous!
see what I mean!
Wood pergola, replaced the tent, way before this picture was taken.

This is the Garage part of the Barnominium.....
It was pretty disgusting when we purchased this place.  You know that Foam Insulation in a can... that grows when you spray it?  It was everywhere!  I spent a lot of time with a knife getting it trimmed down.  And then there were gaps on this wall where there wasn't board.  I guess they didn't own a saw the cut down pieces.....Who knows.  We had several parties in here, before I decided that it needed to look more like a party room, than just a garage.  This room is 20' x 60'.  Lots of room.  We can either open both garage doors, front and back, and get a breeze or we can shut it down and put several heaters in there for a winter party.

This wall got the Red Treatment.

I painted one wall, RED and strung some party lights!  I thought, yes, that looks better, but then after some time....I decided that we had to do something with that other wall.

So, We made Shutters for all the windows, added metal siding as a Chair Rail and of course, I painted.....That was a pain.  I borrowed scaffolding from a friend.

Ready to party!

See how tall that wall is?  That is the house part of this Barnominim.

A lot of painting and making stuff goes on in here as well.

  1. I have wanted to do this for years. We run a small home based business and this would be the perfect setup for us.
